So Wings...wanna help me

I'm thinking of making basically 4 other color schemes for PA. One Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw themed colors.

Wanna make some graphics for it and such? Such as a forum background that is subtle, not too distracting, yet you can see it and it somehow relates to the house? I have tried looking around but really don't know where to start on something...

How to Earn House Points

Ok, we really really need to finalize this.

Here is a list I've come up with of ALL the possible ways to earn house points. We can all talk about what we don't like, other ideas, and in the end have a final list.

Post Count (every hundred posts you make your house gets 25 points)
Raisings (every time you are raised your house receives 25 points)
Harry Potter News (every time you submit news to the Daily Prophet related to...

Forum Pruning

As our site expands we have gotten more and more forums, to the point where it's a paint to scroll all the way down to the bottom. So I would like to propose a forum pruning, basic consolidate multiple forums into one so we have less forums and it's easier to navigate.

Proposed mergers:

Merge the About Padfoots Army and the Rules and Bi-Laws Forum into one big forum "About Padfoot's Army"

The way I see it, our goal right now is to get more exposure and thus gain cool new members to post with us right? So I've been thinking, the way you get higher on google, higher on yuku search, and considered more valuable is if there is something different about your site than the one next door.

With so many internet sites what makes us different?

How about promoting on the site itself? We could have a simply animated banner under our PA banner advertising current/ hot events. For example, we could make an ad for the RP game or our latest contest. Maybe we could change this weekly. Anything to catch the eye that says we're active, fun, and unique. This could be a way to get people to participate who just stop by without them having to go through the whole board. Man, we have alot of "views" on some topics....

House Points Graphics

I think having some actual house points graphics would be brilliant and quite possibly encourage more activity and new members to join. People love pictures and they're memorable. I know Diagonalley just has text house points in their sidebar, but it doesn't stand out too well. Is it technically possible to add some small graphics under the head banner? Or if not, maybe we can make it part of the banner? I'm thinking little house shields (like the patches) with a colored hour...

I know our guests are welcome to post wherever but how about creating a "guest book" where they could say hi and ask any questions they had about the site or whatever.
Maybe they would be more inclined to post a little if there was a specific place for non-members.

A contest.

Name: Sirius Talent
Purpose: To highlight the artistic talents of the Harry Potter/Sirius Black fandom.
How it works: Every 2 months (or whatever time interval you think, I saw a longer one due to the size of the site right now), we submit up to 3 pieces of work from people. The work is then put either to a vote, or a group of people is selected to go through all of the art/writing. Then a winner is selected...

User Levels

I know we were thinking of incorportating user levels here at PA. Something either like 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year, or something like Muggle, Student, Witch/Wizard, and then titles you can earn such as Minister (who can be elected), Professor, healers, etc.

First of all I would like some user input here on what you all think of this idea, whether you think it's good or bad. They would probably be dictated by post count although we could do it with a time limit.

I was thinking...while everyone here is welcome to use the chatroom at any time they choose, it might be fun to designate a time once or twice a week where we all get together and chat. That way, we'll all get to know eachother better and won't keep missing eachother....

Where's the Help forum?

I just noticed that there is no help forum on this board for people who have questions about something board specific and not discussion.

I checked multiple times for this because the yuku chat room won't let me in if a board member is in it. It says 'unknown error' so I try to log in again and it says 'guests are not allowed in the chat room at this time'
Isn't it amazing the random things you discover while searching for other things?

Look, I know this is purely a Harry Potter board, but this isn't all we're interested in. I think there should be more forums for other subjects. Such as other books, movies, video games, anime (well, no, not that--I think I'm the only one here who's into that), and whatnot. I think forums like that could really help expand discussion topics and we'd be able to introduce some of our favorite video games or whatever to each other..... Get back to me....

Why do we have a specific forum for polls? Wouldn't it be more organized and cleaner if we could post polls in the relevant forum? For example a favorite movie poll or a favorite book poll could go in the relevant forum...
